Terumitsu Takahashi is the president of Terumitsu, Inc.,
the U.S. office of Shippo Chokoku
Kogyo-sho located in Japan. Shippo Chokoku Kogyo-Sho is owned and
spearheaded by world
renown Masaaki Takahashi.
Since 1968, Masaaki Takahashi has provided "restoration" services for
special metal coating and
machinely engraving, and for many years has overhauled and custom
painted the lenses and
bodies of antique cameras(restoration work): LEICA, NIKON, CANON,
MINOLTA, and PENTAX, among others.
Masaaki Takahashi, who has worked as a specialist of spesial coating
and machinnery engrav-
ing for more than 30 years, is well known in Europe. He engages in
precision detail coating
and engraving, allowing him to restore classical cameras without
losing the uniqueness of each
camera. The process of re-coating a camera requires very elaborate
skills which can be obtained
only through long term, hands-on practical experiences in coating and
engraving.
The choice of color for re-coating is not limited to the original
color, and the most popular coat-
ing these days is called "hanmarten". This coating process is the one
which was used for LEICA
MD in 1964. In this coating method, two kinds of mixed paints that
contain two different speci-
fic "gravity/weight" are used. Although very high skill is required
to complete beautifully with
this coating, Takahashi handles with this process with out
difficulty.
All services are performed by Shippo Chokoku kogyo-Sho, and all
serviced product will be
accompanied by Masaaki Takahashi's "certification".
